This past weekend Nanny and Ga (grandparents on David's side) came for a visit before they head to England for the summer. It was great for Parker to be able to spend time with them since they will be away for 4 months. We had a busy weekend. Parker went to Trudy's with us for her first dinner out and did fairly well. Saturday we took a ride out to Marble Falls so we could show David's parents our property and have a visit with my parents. Saturday night, June and John watched Parker while David and I went to a neighborhood happy hour. It was nice to get out of the house alone with David and have a couple of cocktails. We also got to meet some new neighbors. Sunday was brunch at Zax and a little more visiting before Nanny and Ga left (we miss you!).
Parker is 8 weeks today and I'm lucky to say she is really a great baby. She does have her fussy moments but it never lasts too long and there is always a reason. She definitely is not one to just lay around all the time. She likes to walk around with you, talk, listen to stories and music and play. She keeps us busy! Today she got her first craniosacral therapy session. If you didn't already know, I'm into alternative therapies and I always wanted to check this one out. I read it's very beneficial for babies. Parker really enjoyed it and was quite relaxed as Sally worked on her. BTW, It's extremely gentle so there was no discomfort to Parker at all. Sally also gave me a session and I felt great afterwards. If only I could have napped... Sally also showed me some massage techniques for helping Parker if she ever has an upset stomach or gas. Here is Parker chillin' an hour or so later:
Sally told me she thinks Parker is super alert for her age (she's a doula and works with lots of babies through the first months of life) and that her head is a perfect shape. I must say I agree but I'm biased, of course.
Tomorrow, Suzy and I are going to try giving Alamo Drafthouse "baby day" a shot. They allow babies at any showing on Tuesdays before 2 so we'll see how Parker does. We are seeing Bridesmaids and I'll post an update on how we all do! :-)
OK, well, I better try and get some sleep since Parker is in her crib in her own room for the first night! I hope she enjoys it!
